1. Who we are

This website (calmthestormbook.com) is operated by Anthony Hulse, a sole trader based in the United Kingdom. We act as the data controller for personal data collected through this site. You can reach us at hello@calmthestormbook.com.

  • Communications — emails or support messages you send us.
  • Usage and device data — IP address, browser type, pages visited, referrer (via analytics).
  • Marketing preferences — whether you've opted in to our email list.

Payment card details are collected and processed directly by Paddle. We never see or store full card numbers.

3. How we use your data and legal basis

  • To deliver the product and provide customer support — performance of a contract.
  • To send order confirmations and service emails — performance of a contract.
  • To send marketing emails (only if you opted in) — consent.
  • To improve the site and prevent fraud — legitimate interests.
  • To meet legal and tax obligations — legal obligation.

4. Who we share your data with

  • Paddle — our Merchant of Record. Paddle handles payments, billing, tax compliance, invoicing, subscription management, and refunds. See Paddle's Privacy Policy.
  • Service providers — hosting (Lovable / Cloudflare), email delivery, and analytics tools acting as our processors.
  • Authorities — where required by law.

5. International transfers

Some of our service providers are based outside the UK/EEA. Where this is the case, transfers are protected by appropriate safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement, EU Standard Contractual Clauses, or adequacy decisions.

6. How long we keep data

We keep your data only as long as needed for the purposes above, or as required by law (e.g. tax records are kept for 6 years). After that, data is deleted or anonymised.

7. Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to: access your data, correct it, erase it, restrict or object to processing, port it to another service, and withdraw consent at any time. You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).

To exercise any of these rights, email hello@calmthestormbook.com. We respond within one month.

8. Security

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures — including encryption in transit (HTTPS), access controls, and reputable infrastructure providers — to protect your data.

9. Cookies

We use a small number of essential cookies needed for the site to function, and may use analytics cookies to understand how visitors use the site. You can control cookies through your browser settings.
